Marshalls Outdoor Reality
Marshalls, the UK’s leading supplier of hard landscaping, building, and roofing products, approached us to create a video highlighting the frustrations of planning a paving or driveway project. Our goal was to humorously convey these challenges and demonstrate how Marshalls’ AR app, OutdoorReality, can simplify the process from start to finish.
The challenge
Marshalls wanted a creative and engaging way to promote their OutdoorReality AR app, which helps its users visualise, measure, and plan paving projects with ease. The goal was to highlight the common pain points people experience, such as measuring spaces inaccurately, choosing the wrong materials, and miscalculating costs, in a relatable and funny way. The video needed to be lighthearted and engaging, while emphasising how the app alleviates these issues.
Our solution
We devised a playful narrative following a couple trying to plan their outdoor space. Using a comedic effect, we demonstrated their struggle with traditional measuring tools and the confusion of selecting the right paving. The script was carefully written to emphasise how Marshalls’ OutdoorReality app simplifies the process by allowing users to measure spaces, try out different paving styles, and calculate costs accurately. Through storyboarding, scriptwriting, and directing, we created a video that not only highlighted the app’s features, but also resonated with everyday homeowners who face the challenges of outdoor projects.
